5 years old!

I just saw that I started a post back in December about Rainey's birthday, and I never finished it. So I included some December shots before Isaac was born at the end.

I say this every year, but I can't believe we have a 5 year old. I'm excited for the magic of 5 I hear about. (She is awesome these days)
On the actual day - she chose angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream:

She had a friend party (our first one), and she wanted to do pjs, hot chocolate, and a princess movie.
(E was stoked to be a part of the festivities)

We asked these same questions last year - I love to see how they change from year to year. And even now some of her answers would be different:
1. What is your favorite color? Pink, gold and white
2. What is your favorite toy? Polly pockets
3. What is your favorite fruit? Grapes (frozen)
4. What is your favorite tv show? Berenstain Bears
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? sandwich
6. What is your favorite outfit? Blue dress with berries and flowers – in her school pic
7. What is your favorite game? Busytown
8. What is your favorite snack? yogurt
9. What is your favorite animal? bunny
10. What is your favorite song? As I Have Loved You and What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction)
11. What is your favorite book? Charlie Brown’s Christmas w Papa and Grandma’s recorded voices
12. Who is your best friend? Penny, Mary, Alix (all came to her bday party)
13. What is your favorite cereal? Life (strawberry)
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? swing
15. What is your favorite drink? Strawberry lemonade
16. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Special blanket and stuffed animals
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Lemon pancakes
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Mac n’ cheese and peas
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? Mom

Some December activities.

The first snow and Rainey's snowman made all on her own

The magic of the Christmas season - my fave.

Stories by the Christmas tree:

Advent calendar with surprises inside:
(I actually made this advent calendar - crazy for a non-crafter like me)

Making gingerbread Santa sleighs:

Decorating sugar cookies with cousins:

Decorating Gramsey's Christmas tree:

The Nativity scene - the first year without a live baby Jesus.

Little lambs with cute aunts (and a sweet wise man):

One little angel:

Just before Isaac was born, we had some great sledding days. Here's a before and after though - poor Rainey took a tumble. But she just started asking to go sledding again, so no long lasting harm done.

Recent Happenings

Our biggest news is the near completion of potty training E. It's nice to only change diapers for one tiny person.
Waiting for the first success:

And I know it's just the parents who love the little legs and buns in the undies, but I had to include a few shots of her in them (I spared you all a shot of her from behind, even though I love it).
Showing me her treat, focused, and playing with Isaac:

The ultimate prize once she completed the chart of stickers - "chockit cake" - this girl lives for anything chocolate.

We've been inside quite a bit to protect Isaac because the Utah germs are crazy this season, so just a few snapshots of what we do. Rainey has school most mornings, so I get some good one on one time with E while Isaac sleeps:

(I love the beginning of drawing people)

("indoor swing" - we've logged many hours on this)

 (Some Max and Ruby)

(we're still a bit sleep deprived)

(rainey took this one)

(And yay for walks and bike rides around the neighborhood - they save me!)

Kevin and I got to take one girl out on a date - they chose McDonalds
E with Dad

R with Mom

And Isaac is growing - we love his smiles and coos:

We've had people ask who he looks like. We're not sure - maybe a combination, more like Rainey, a mini Kev?? Here are pics of each one around the 2 month age:
